Arrival of Deportation Flights in Guatemala

This Friday, the first flights of deportees from the United States arrived in Guatemala, marking the beginning of a new cycle of deportations under President Donald Trump's administration. A total of 80 Guatemalans returned on the first flight that arrived in the early morning.

Among the deportees were 31 women, 48 men, and one teenager, who were transferred to the Migrant Attention Center shelter in Zone 5 of Guatemala City. The Guatemalan Institute of Migration indicated that it continues to coordinate with other government institutions to provide a dignified reception for migrants returning to the country.

Despite the White House announcing the arrest and expulsion of 538 illegal immigrants, the Guatemalan government did not confirm the presence of any of them in this first group of deportees. According to reports, these deportations focused on removing first those immigrants classified as "criminals."

It is important to highlight that these actions mark the beginning of a series of deportations of undocumented immigrants by the Trump administration, as part of its immigration policy.
